Bubble plant Red Baron in landscape design

The Red Baron is popular with landscape designers for its extraordinary appearance. All its parts, foliage, flowers and fruits, are decorative. You can meet the bubblegum both on city streets and in rural yards. Park areas, front entrances, summer cottages are decorated with this bright shrub.

Often, Red Baron becomes an element of complex garden compositions, in which he can occupy both dominant positions and act as a background for other plants. The bladder bush can be an excellent tapeworm in the undergrowth, against the background of deciduous and coniferous compositions.

Looks great Red Baron in single and group lawn plantings. The original design solution is to trim the bushes. At the same time, the vesicle gets a unique shape, which, in combination with other garden crops, gives an amazing effect.

Hedges from the Red Baron bubble plant (pictured) can adequately decorate any recreation area or garden, country house. They turn out to be dense, thick and incredibly beautiful, while not requiring special care.

Growing conditions for the red Baron vesicle

The peculiarities of cultivation of the Red Baron bladderwort are almost the same as those of other varieties of bladderworms. Red Baron is a rather unpretentious plant that prefers sunny areas, but can grow in partial shade. Bubbles growing in sunny places gets the opportunity to fully reveal the decorative qualities of their foliage. Whereas in the shade it acquires a green color, the saturation of which depends on the degree of illumination.

Planting and caring for the Red Baron vesicle

The red baron bubble plant, according to the description of the variety, does not need any specialized care, but it will fully develop only when the following agrotechnical measures are carried out.

Watering

2-3 times a week, especially during the hot period

Top dressing

in the spring-autumn season

Loosening the root circle

regularly, being careful not to damage the root system

Treatment of soil from pests

in the spring for preventive purposes

Pruning

2 times per year

Important! Planting planting material with an open root system is recommended in early spring (before bud break) or in autumn (in September). Plants in pots or containers can be planted throughout the growing season.

Landing site preparation

It is recommended to choose a site for planting the Red Baron vesicle with loose soil rich in nutrients. But due to its undemanding nature, the vesicle will grow on insufficiently fertile substrates. The composition of the soil can be completely different, the main thing is that there is no lime in it. Also, the vesicle develops rather poorly on soils with a high occurrence of groundwater.

Comment! The Red Baron is absolutely insensitive to air polluted by exhaust gases. Thanks to this, it can be planted near the roadway.

Landing rules

Planting the Red Baron bladder begins with the preparation of the planting pit for the seedling. Step-by-step process of preparatory and planting work:

  1. Dig a hole of sufficient depth (the root collar should be flush with the ground).
  2. Place a layer of nutritious, fertile soil at the bottom.
  3. Place the seedling vertically in the hole.
  4. Sprinkle the root with earth, tamping lightly.
  5. Water the seedling.
  6. After three to four days, loosen the soil.
  7. Mulch the root zone with peat, humus or dry soil in order to retain moisture.
Advice! The optimal soil for planting the Red Baron Viburnum bladder, as for any other ornamental plants, should be multicomponent.

When planting, the branches of the seedling should not be buried in the ground by more than 1-2 cm. Some time after shrinkage, the soil must be poured to level the surface. Hilling is not recommended.

When planting the Red Baron bubble plant, in order to create a hedge, the seedlings should be placed in a checkerboard pattern (two-row method).

Recommended distance:

  • in rows - 35 cm;
  • between seedlings - 45 cm.

Watering and feeding

The frequency of watering the Red Baron vesicle bushes depends on a number of factors, such as:

  • type of soil;
  • plant age;
  • the climatic region in which the shrub grows.
Advice! When growing a bladder on light loam in areas with hot summers, it is recommended to water the plantings from late spring until the onset of the autumn season. Do not overuse watering on lawns or heavy clay soils. Waterlogging increases the risk of powdery mildew, which can be detrimental to plants.

Ornamental bushes of the Red Baron variety should be watered regularly, at intervals of 2-3 times a week. The rate of water consumption per plant is about 40 liters.

It is necessary to feed the viburnum bladder:

  • in early spring - nitrogen fertilizers;
  • in the fall - mineral.

Top dressing (for 10 liters of water)

in the spring

in the fall

Mullein - 500 ml;

Urea (urea) - 25 g;

Ammonium nitrate - 25 g.

Mullein - 500 ml;

Urea (urea) - 25 ml;

Ammonium nitrate - 25 ml;

Phosphorus nitrate - 50 ml.

Advice! The consumption rate of the feeding solution for 1 adult bush (15-20 years old) is 15 liters.

Pruning

The Red Baron bovine plant is a fast-growing variety. Growing up in comfortable conditions, the bush can give about 40 cm of growth in both width and height in a year. Therefore, the plant needs not only sanitary pruning, but also formative. The procedure is not traumatic for the plant. Bushes easily tolerate it and very quickly sprout new shoots.

Sanitary pruning is done in the spring. Its main purpose is to remove broken and frozen branches.Bush-forming pruning helps to shape the shrub and stimulates branching. It is carried out in the spring (before bud break) or in the fall (after the end of the growing season).

Red Baron, like other varieties of vesicles, grows in a fountain-like manner, and correctly carried out formative pruning contributes to the activation of the growth processes of the upper buds. There are two ways to carry out crown-forming pruning:

  1. The trunks of the bush are cut at a height of 40-50 cm to obtain a powerful, wide bush.
  2. All thin and weak shoots are removed at the base of the shrub. Leave about five of the strongest trunks, cutting them at a height of 1.5 m, thereby stimulating their growth. At the same time, the bush acquires a pronounced fountain-like shape.

Preparing for winter

Bubble plant Red Baron is resistant to a slight decrease in atmospheric temperatures, but in severe winters, young shoots can sometimes freeze slightly. In order to prevent possible freezing, the bushes in the fall should be properly prepared for wintering. It is recommended to start carrying out preparatory work with the arrival of the first cold nights.

A step-by-step plan for warming the bladderwort:

  1. The bushes are pulled together with a rope or twine.
  2. Shavings or peat are laid out around the trunk of the plant.
  3. The shrub is covered from above with any natural insulating material.
Advice! It is imperative to cover seedlings and young bushes of the Red Baron bladder for the winter.

Reproduction of the bladderworm Red Baron

The red Baron bladderworm reproduces:

  • layering;
  • cuttings;
  • dividing the bush.
Warning! It is not recommended to grow the Red Baron bladder plant with the help of self-collected seeds, as you can get plants that do not have characteristic decorative features. During seed propagation, the original color is not always transmitted.

Good results are obtained by propagation of the vesicle by layering. For layering on mature bushes, strong, healthy shoots that grow outward are selected. Before laying, all foliage is removed from them, with the exception of the top. Then a groove is made 15 cm deep, into which the prepared shoot is laid. Be sure to fix the layering by pinning it to the ground, for example, with wooden or metal staples. From above, the hole must be covered with earth. In autumn, the cuttings are separated from the bush and planted in a permanent place.

Cuttings for propagation are prepared in this way:

  1. Before flowering, young branches with a length of at least 20 cm are cut from the bushes.
  2. Leaves are removed from the lower part of the shoot, and the remaining ones are shortened in half.
  3. The branches are placed in Kornevin's solution for 2-3 days.
  4. When the first signs of the formation of a future root system appear, the cuttings are planted in a nutritious soil.
  5. For the summer, seedlings are covered with a film, periodically airing and watering. They are insulated for the winter.
Attention! Shoots that are selected for reproduction must necessarily have 2-3 renal internodes. The composition of the soil for planting them should be similar to the soil in which the shrub will grow in the future.

Dividing a bush is the fastest way to reproduce. But due to the fact that adult bushes have a highly developed root system, this option is quite laborious.

Diseases and pests

The Red Baron bubble plant is highly resistant to many diseases and pests. But with a preventive purpose, it is recommended to carry out spring tillage with antifungal and bacterial preparations. Such a procedure will contribute to the better development of the shrub and its growth.

For hygienic purposes, it is recommended to add such preparations as "Fitosporin", "Alirin", "Gamair" to the water for irrigation. The dosage is prescribed in the instructions for each specific product. Watering is carried out in spring, and one such preventive procedure is enough to protect plants for the entire growing season.

Sometimes the bushes of the Red Baron bladder can be affected by the porosity. The disease develops when plants grow on poor soils. In particular, it is provoked by a lack of iron in the soil. A characteristic sign of the disease is the rusty color of young leaves and shoots, with their subsequent drying out. The cause of the disease can be eliminated by radial watering of the bushes with iron-containing preparations ("Firolitam", "Filat iron").

Conclusion

The Red Baron bubble plant stands out favorably among most garden plants, for its unpretentiousness and excellent decorative qualities. The plant looks very gorgeous in the garden, decorating it with its leaves that change color depending on the season, beautiful spring flowers and autumn berries.

Reviews of the bladder Red Baron

Tatiana, 45 years old, Moscow
I consider the Red Baron red baron to be a real decoration of the garden. Even alone, he looks just gorgeous. I really like that the shrub retains its beautiful appearance from early spring to late autumn. In care, the vesicle is not picky, it multiplies easily, so even novice gardeners can be engaged in its cultivation.
Olga, 39 years old, Sakhalin
There are many ornamental shrubs on my garden plot, and among them the Red Baron bubble plant occupies a special place. I planted it for the purpose of creating a hedge and was not disappointed. Bushes grow very quickly, so the result did not have to wait long. It is not troublesome to look after them - I cut my hair 2 times a year, but this procedure is not complicated and not time consuming. With a little effort and time, you can get not only an effective, but also a very beautiful hedge.
